There are several ways you can get involved in the ministry of Residence of Life!
Whether by praying, coming or giving, you can help support the healing work that God is doing in Costa Rica and effect change in future generations.
-
We believe prayer is the most powerful way you can help! Raising children of trauma is never easy and the physical, emotional and spiritual needs are endless. Prayer is the foundation of our ministry, and it’s a gift that can be given from anywhere.
Specific ongoing needs that you can pray for are:
• Open hearts among our kids to receive the healing that Jesus can give.
• Endurance for our staff as they deal with difficult situations.
• More monthly partners and supernatural provision of all needs.
• Preparation of the hearts of future adoptive and/or foster families for each of our kids.
• Wisdom and favor as we navigate government bureaucracy.
-
It really does take a village to raise a child, especially when there are almost 30 children and graduates to support!
While we generally accept local volunteers here in Costa Rica, we have limited our US visitors due to being short-staffed and an effort to maintain the focus on our primary ministry: the children. With that being said, we are planning to relaunch our team program in 2025.
If you feel specifically led to come to Residence of Life, please reach out to us via the Contact Us page and you will receive a team application. Upon receiving your completed application, we will prayerfully consider the request and whether we feel that your group can meet a specific need and that the visit will be mutually beneficial for the kids and for you! We will get back to you regardless of what we decide.
If you are interested in serving long-term in the role of an intern, you must speak basic Spanish, have a clean background check, a heart for serving and have come on a trip or visit in the past. If you meet these requirements and have a willingness to spend anywhere from one month to 90 days with us, please email us at info@residenceoflife.org.

While our children’s homes in Costa Rica are partially funded by the country’s child services organization PANI, the amount they provide covers only about half of our monthly expenses. We are dependent on God and your generosity to survive! We have committed to live by faith, not credit. We live in a constant state of awe in God’s faithfulness that we survive each month considering that our monthly donation needs are anywhere from $12,000 to $16,000. If you would like to partner with us, there are many ways you can help, ranging from one-time gifts, monthly donations or helping with a specific project need. There are several direct links below.
WAYS TO GIVE
When you give to Residence of Life, you’re not only helping our ministry, but, because we believe strongly in tithing, a small portion of your donation goes to support other children’s homes and local churches throughout Costa Rica! We strive to model for our children the importance of sharing with those in need.
ONE-TIME GIFT
-
A one-time gift will be applied to the most pressing need. These donations help us supplement our program, providing funding for unanticipated needs such as a medical treatment, van or house repair, or to make up for a monthly shortfall in the event that we don’t have enough for rent or food.
SPONSORSHIP
-
While you will not be matched with a specific child for security purposes, know that your monthly support helps us to budget for the children’s regular needs such as school projects, bus and lunch money, clothing, outings and birthday gifts. A donation of $50 a month goes a long way to help us meet needs!
MONTHLY GIFT
-
Consistent monthly giving provides us with the luxury of knowing that the monthly needs will be met and helps us be able to budget. It’s a relief to know that we will be able to pay rent, electricity and water for the kid’s homes, gas for the van, the caregiver salaries, insurance and groceries!
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Below, you will find information on several special projects that we are currently raising money for. All donations given through the special project campaign will be designated ONLY for that purpose and will not be used for any other reason. These projects allow us to amplify our program in ways we’d otherwise not have funding to do. Click on the links below to learn more about each project.
